Wecome to my blog and to the One Little Word Blog Hop! I trust you've got your feet up (in spirit, if not literally!) and have grabbed your beverage of choice and are having a fun ride! I'd like to invite you back to "my house" any time!
You'll find a complete list of hop participants at the end of this post, complete with links, for your convenience. ;)
So, on to what I'd like to share this time around.
This is my 9-photo layout. (It appears slightly different in the actual book, as I re-arranged the photos just a little). This view of the photos is just much better. Anyway, some of the photos represent areas that I would like to focus on more this year (family/relationships, eating healthy, photography, scrapbooking/art journaling). Some are just for fun. And, yes, the one in the middle has significance in both its placement and its content (see the "cross"?).
That's how the page looks in the book. You can see on the right that I enlarged my center photo and did a little journaling on there. Just kind of a summary of my thoughts for the month (details below...).Here's a close-up of that page:
And, finally, I decided to go ahead and put my thoughts about this month, those shared below, on a paper and inserted that into my book as well. (Thanks, Ali Edwards for that idea.) Don't know yet what will go on the back. Maybe I'll print out a bunch of the "focus" quotes that I've been collecting.
So...
It’s been an interesting month as I’ve really taken some time to think about my word - focus. I think I’m actually having that thing where your word “speaks to you”! At least, I’ve had some very clear thoughts about where I want to go with my word. :)
I don’t want to get too overly spiritual, but, on the other hand, my faith - and how to “walk” in it in my everyday life - is very important to me. It’s central to who I am. Of all the relationships I have, my one with God is the most important. Everything else that I do stems from that. Or, at least, that’s my hope and my aim.
So as I thought about all the areas I wanted to focus in on this year, I began to realize that if I’m trying to focus on too many things, I’m probably not going to do any of them really well. Another simple, but great, quote I came across is this: “If you chase two rabbits, both will escape.” (author unknown). I’m beginning to get that. (Takes me a while...)
I don’t think it’s wrong for me to have goals. I just want to be sure that whatever I choose to do, my focus as I’m doing those things is on God - how I reflect Him and honor Him and imitate His Son, practicing grace and wisdom in the process. Am I there yet? Um,no. But that’s where I want my focus to be. :)
